6-8 235-pound Jarnell Stokes, currently ranked the No.20 senior, has decided to graduate early and will enroll in college for the second semester if he is cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Unfortunately this was a decision he hadn't planned on making until the March or April period, so it is becoming a tough decision, one that Stokes didn't plan on making so quickly.
The Tennessee High School Association has decided that Stokes, who has the grades and core courses to qualify for an NCAA school, was making his move to Southwind for basketball only, and was not going to be allowed to play, hence the decision to go to college early which has moved up that decison.
Stokes is a difference maker at the next level as a freshman, who can come in and add offense plus rebounding help up front for any of the schools that he is considering. He will be a solid addition.
He is currently considering Memphis, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas. He has been getting a lot of pressure from the three local schools Memphis, Arkansas, and Tennessee. That pressure according to sources close to his recruitment have clouded his decision.
Stokes has said that he will make his decision in the next couple weeks...prior to the start of the college second semester...stay tuned
Editor's Note: Unfortunately with the Tennessee High School Association decision, Stokes will miss the opportunity of becoming a McDonald's All-American...something that his academics coupled with his game he would have had the potential to become...unfortunately that will be something this high school talent will miss!
